"My Bag Can Fly" is a children's book that I wrote and illustrated as part of my 10 week final project for my Art Foundation Diploma. It follows the journey of a backpack from the UK to Malawi, in accordance with the process of 'the backpack project' campaign led by Mary's Meals (charity). The reasoning behind choosing this type of project was that I wanted to make a challenging project looking to widespread issues rather than being inward looking, using a task that can be replicated in real life and inspire children who read it to be led by empathy. I also wanted to create a book in a medium (tissue paper) which resonated with the simplicity and inexpensive possibilities creative outlets can have.
