MARY-CARMEN FEATHERSTONE

The fascination of what can be achieved with a piece of clay draws me into making objects of diverse use - practical domestic ware, humorous, quirky ornamental pieces, garden sculptures.  I especially love unusual, fun and crazy forms!

I enjoy any technique be it hand-built, slab-built, wheel-thrown etc. and am happy using any clay depending on what I am making.  My work is very spontaneous, which suits my personality, reflecting my South American origin.

Creating a piece in clay is like an adventure.  Sometimes you cannot foresee where the journey will take you but, whatever the result, it is rewarding and proves to be an invaluable therapy.
